Abstract:To rapidly detect the location, length and degree of the blockage in natural gas pipelines, and solve the problem of blockage location in the natural gas transportation pipelines, the feasibility and effect of the pressure pulse wave method for blockage detection were discussed.A 220 m long experimental system of the pressure pulse wave for blockage detection was established, and multiple groups of continuous long blockage detection and water blockage detection tests were conducted. The results showed that in the continuous long blockage detection tests, the reflected signal of blockage frontier was the negative pressure wave, while the signal of blockage back was the positive pressure wave, and the waveform was clear and identifiable. The average detection errors of the blockage location, blockage length and blockage rate in multiple groups of tests were 0.23%,0.75% and 2.67%,respectively.In the water blockage detection tests, the reflected signals were clear, but the waveform was complex, and the average detection errors of blockage location, blockage length and blockage rate were 0.78%,9.61% and 43.28%,respectively.The experimental results effectively validated the reliability and feasibility of the pressure pulse wave method, and it provide guidance for the on-site application of pressure pulse wave method for blockage detection.
